A Queen with Great Courage
Hello, All of you out there!
This is Rick Lawrence, your guest speaker today.
Sometimes,
it takes courage to make the right decision when we aren’t sure of the
outcome.
We all have
issues and problems in our lives from childhood through our teenage years and
then our adult years. We have things
we want to hold on to and fear to give up. Sometimes,
it’s money or a house or some relationship or perhaps a social scene that is
harming us. We know we should give it up, but we lack the courage to do so –
so we hang on and it drags us down and prevents us from reaching better and
higher goals. And what about making
the decision that means eternal life for us in heaven?
These are common situations, however, sometimes the decisions we are
faced with are a matter of great change, or maybe great temporary sacrifice on
our part. Perhaps we even face the
threat of life and death possibilities. Scary,
isn’t it!
I have
story to tell you. It’s about a woman of great courage.
She was faced with a huge, life-threatening possibility. The decision was
hers to make and the lives of thousands of people hung in the balance: If she
was willing to risk her life – and was successful as the result of her
decision – all would turn out well, but she was facing possible death to try
it . Her name was Esther: she was the queen.
Here’s the story taken from the Living Bible.
This
is what happened
during the time of Ahasuerus, the
king of vast Media-Persia with its 127 provinces stretching from
One day,
Haman, the prime minister, a man who disliked Mordecai, approached the king and
said, “"There is a certain Jewish race of people scattered through all
the provinces of your kingdom, they refuse to obey the king's laws; I recommend
they be killed. The king believed him and agreed. Haman sent a letter to all the
provinces commanding them to kill the Jews.
Mordecai
asked Esther to go the king to plead for the lives of her people, the Jews.
Esther said, "All the world knows that anyone, whether man or woman,
who goes into the king's inner court without his summons is doomed to die unless
the king holds out his gold scepter; and the king has not called for me to come
to him.” Mordecai replied, “If you keep quiet at a time like this, God will
deliver the Jews from some other source, but you and your relatives will die;
what's more, who can say but that God has brought you into the palace for just
such a time as this?"
Three days
later Esther put on her royal robes and entered the inner court just beyond the
royal hall of the palace, where the king was sitting upon his royal throne. And
when he saw Queen Esther standing there in the inner court, he welcomed her,
holding out the golden scepter to her. Later, the king asked her, "What is
your petition, Queen Esther? Queen Esther replied, O king, if it please Your
Majesty, save my life and the lives of my people.
The King granted Esther her wish -- had Haman hanged and Modecai made
Prime Minister.
Esther
loved God and her people. It took great courage for her to approach the King as
she did. She became willing to give up a thing of great value -- her own life,
but it was the right decision, and God blessed her for it.
So
it is with our Heavenly Father. He
is waiting her us to give up the cheap things in our lives so that he can give
us beautiful treasures. Are you holding onto things that God wants you to let
go of? Are you holding on to
harmful or unnecessary partners, relationships, habits and activities that you
have become so attached to that it seems impossible to let go? Do believe
this one thing… God will never take away something without giving you
something better in its place.
As I close this message, Let me assure you, God can and will work miracles in your life to help you.
If you haven't asked Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and invited him into your heart and life as your personal Lord and Savior, you are missing out on a lot of promises of help for your life. Jesus died on the cross for you and wants you to invite him into your heart.. 1 Peter 3:9 says, "He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." He wants people to repent, that is, to change their heart and mind, ask his forgiveness and open the door of their heart to him.(Rev.3:20)
The first greatest miracle change in your life will happen when you cross the line and ask Jesus to take over the 'steering wheel' of your life. That's what it means to receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord of your life. “If you were standing before Jesus and he asked you ‘why should I let you into my kingdom?’ what would you say? “The Bible says that we have all done wrong.” “The Bible says the payment for doing wrong is Hell.” (Rom.6:23) But we get to go to heaven if we just ask.” “Is there any reason why you would want to spend eternity in hell?” I’m sure practically all of you are saying no! GREAT! Let me help you pray right where you are, Speak or whisper the words as we pray. “Mean these words with your whole heart.”
“Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me for all of the things I have done wrong. I acknowledge the fact that I am a sinner I ask for your forgiveness. . I repent, changing my heart and mind, I turn away from my sins. I open the door of my heart to you now, Jesus I place my faith in you Jesus who died for my sin and made a way for me to have eternal life.” I ask you Jesus to come into my heart as my personal Savior and become the Lord of my life. Help me to live for you. Thank you Lord for this miracle that causes me to be spiritually born again. Help me to live this new life, to obey your commands and do what pleases you. Amen
If you prayed this prayer and meant it with all of your heart, you will have crossed over the line and accepted Jesus into your heart and life. In the Bible, the book of Revelation, chapter 3, verse 20 Jesus is speaking and says, Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with him, and he with me." When you invited Him to come into your heart and life, you can be certain Jesus keeps his promise, he has come into your heart by His Holy Spirit and you have become spiritually born again. You have become a 'forever' member of the family of God. You have crossed over from eternal death unto eternal life. (John 5:24). You can read more about being spiritually born again [given a new life] in Christ. See: John 3:3-5 Jesus told Nicodemus all about it.
[Rick's
prayer for you]
-- Lord Jesus, I ask you, now,
to heal the many people who need healing and are reading
this message. And by
the authority of the name of Jesus Christ, I speak to the many who need
deliverance
from addictions or other problems: spirit, mind or body and I say to them,
"Jesus sets you free" Believe, receive and serve Him with all of your
heart. and mind. Thank
you God for your great mercy and compassion.
You will find a click here link to a new believers Bible study I have written; it is on the RKL2.org home page about the middle of the page or below.
If an individual rejects Christ, then God may refuse his help with the problem in that person's life. It follows that in our earthly lives, we may also be denied help or favor if, as true believers, we behave with disobedience or rebellion.
As I finish, now -- I want to ask you if you are willing to give up ruling your own life and trust God to take over? You can do this by inviting Jesus into your heart to become your personal Savior and the Lord of your life. Tell me, can a person make this decision and not show unusual courage? Let me help you pray. Pray this prayer with me; Speak the words as we pray. Heavenly father, I acknowledge the fact that I am a sinner, and repent of my sins with a resolve to forsake them for ever, I ask for your forgiveness. I open the door of my heart to you now Jesus and invite you into my heart and ask you to become my personal Savior and the Lord of my life. Please help me to live a life that pleases you and give me power to live my new life in you. Amen.
