Rick Lawrence articles about Revival and 'Deeper Life'

Revival page 2 -- The Spiritually born again believers preparation to be used of God to the fullest, including revival.

1. What is spiritual awakening and revival? They are spiritual processes wherein the testimony and practice of a local body of Christ is restored. Why is there a need for restoration? Church attendance is normally made up of persons both secular and spiritually born again. The peoples may be far from perfect. Worldliness creeps in, doctrinal errors spring up due to false teaching, or people are led astray by spirits of deception, or perhaps they have plenty of facilities-- even beautiful facilities, lots of fine spiritual events and programs -- maybe the people see no reason to pursue 'deeper life/'  It involves a matter of perception. When we speak of perception we mean "the knowledge gained from the process of coming to know or understand something -- a growing perception of the enormity of a situation.". ~ Webster dictionary  Note, not all churches need revival per se, OTOH, many do. So, when I speak of revival, your church may be included, however, I am talking about revival in the area where you live and beyond. There are a lot of people waiting to be spiritually born again..  Many people want to be in the family of God and think they might be, but some need to be what is called, "Are You100% Sure  you are on your way to heaven if you die?" I'll show you how to get that assurance. I learned about it from another ministry. It is of the Lord. Lastly, don't expect anything exotic regarding  Bible doctrine I believe, teach and live by. No deceptive spirits hang around me.

  Letter of Interest
from Capt. Ryan Lucero

.         F- 16  Fighting Falcons make their way down the runway

Dear Rick,

I graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy  in May, 2002, then entered jet  pilot training.  After earning my wings, I completed additional flight training, then worked in a three year assignment as an Instructor Pilot, in which I trained USAF student pilots assigned for T-38 jet flight training at Laughlin AFB TX

I put my best effort into that assignment knowing I had a part in turning out well-trained, exceptional, future fighter pilots to serve America in our Air Force. My later assignment was as a pilot in an F-16 Fighter jet squadron at Luke AFB.

My next assignment was 1 year F-16 fighter-pilot duty at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea. Then, I was assigned - F-16 duty at Hill AFB UT, I have been at Hill AFB for a year or two, but have, currently, been sent to Afghanistan  As an Instructor pilot for training pilots in the F-16 fighter jet, I will be back at Hill AFB, when I'm through with combat missions in Afghanistan.

I'm writing to thank you, Rick, for all the time you have spent speaking and teaching young people and adults how to be successful in life. I remembered many of the teachings and illustrations you used. As a result, I learned and began to fashion a dream.

The dream became more cemented in my life...that dream being the way to succeed – a step at a time-- toward my goals.  I credit you for planting this in me so young.

If I wouldn’t have had an image, plan, or a desire so strong from the very beginning, I might have spent many years not fully pursuing this goal.

Thanks to you, I learned about the  work, dedication and desire required to get somewhere in life and how to achieve my goals.

Through your teachings, I learned to say to myself and others, with unrelenting confidence, “I will accomplish anything I decide to do in life.”  this allowed me, even as a 7th grader, to tell people not what I "want to do when I grow up," but "what I will do when I grow up."

It would be my wish that every youngster could hear your messages and take them to heart like I did.

In my opinion, there are few things in life that can limit a person who "decides" and then "determines" what will happen rather than to aimlessly drift and wonder? what will happen.  Then, combine some good study skills and work habits and look out!

I feel so blessed, Rick. I will pass on as much of your wisdom as I can remember to my children and others.

Cordially yours,

Captain Ryan Lucero,

United States Air Force

Good advice --
Forget It and Keep Going!
The world doesn't stop when you suffer a loss. I suffer over a loss like everyone else, but it's how soon you forget it and get going again that's important.
~ Tom Landry, spiritually born again, former coach of the Dallas Cowboys team. During  his tenure  the Cowboys  finished with 13 division titles, five trips to the Super Bowl, winning the Super Bowl twice

God says "Go ahead and ask!" In the Bible,  He speaks through James and says in James 4:2b says, "...You do not have, because you do not ask God..."

Bible wisdom and commands

Proverbs 18:17  The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.

1 Tim. 5:19  Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.

Proverbs 3:27, 28  Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act.
Do not say to your neighbor, "Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow"-- when you now have it with you.

2 Thess.3:1-3  Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.
2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith.
3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

Matt.6-8  And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Evan Roberts bio -   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evan_Roberts_(minister) The infilling a.k.a. Baptism in the Holy Spirit;. Roberts belief and experience

http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/southwest/halloffame/public_life/evanroberts.shtml  world wide  movement resulted from Roberts…

Of all the names that are linked with the 1904 Revival, Evan Roberts is the most well known. At 26 years of age in the Autumn of 1904, he was to become an instant spiritual celebrity in Wales as the local and national newspapers of the day chronicled the spreading Religious Revival.

His ministry status was highlighted by the fact that he was a precious ‘unknown’. He wasn’t even a fully licensed preacher in 1904 – he was merely a trainee attending a grammar school to prepare him for the ministry course. He had left school when only 11years and nine months old to help his father in the local coal mine. Having worked in coalmining for 12 years he then became an apprentice to a blacksmith for over a year. He left that calling when he felt a greater call to reach people for Christ. The only avenue that seemed available to him at the time was the Presbyterian Ministry and it was whilst he was in pursuit of this that God radically changed his plans.

Evan Roberts had been a committed Christian from his early teenage years. He had not lived a profligate life – he was a regular attendee and contributor to the on going life of his local church. He was a well-respected Sunday School teacher – someone who prayed publicly in the prayer meeting and rarely missed the other mid week meetings. Friends of his at the time remember him as a committed Christian in word and deed. His private spiritual life also matched his public profession, private prayer and bible study. These were essential components of his spirituality from an early age. But it was in the spring of 1904 that Evan was to experience an even greater feeling of God’s presence. One night he was woken from his sleep and led into a deep communion with God for hours. This experience was to continue every evening for the next few months until he went away to the school at Newcastle Emlyn.

This change of scenery had an immediate cooling effect on his spiritual fervour but it wasn’t to last long. Two weeks after arriving at the school, Evan attended a Convention at nearby Blaenanerch and it was here that he received what he termed as the ‘Baptism of the Spirit’ as he responded to the prayer ‘Bend me oh Lord’. This empowering of the Spirit transformed the young student into a Revivalist with a message for Wales.

Within a month he felt compelled to share this message of the reality of God and the possibility of complete forgiveness of sins with his home youth group at Moriah Loughor.

Note: Rick Lawrence recommends: to all who desire to be set free from unhealthy habits, problems, and/or need healing in mind/body/ spirit,  or have other need of deliverance -- follow and do the 4 steps below.  Participating in true Holy Spirit power and revival calls for sanctification in the lives of those involved. See Revival pg. 2 -- Rick's teaching on the 4 points below. (click here)

Summing up the message in 4 parts, Evan pressed it home to the astonished church:

1. Confess all known sin

2. Deal with and get rid of anything ‘doubtful’ in your life

3. Be ready to obey the Holy Spirit instantly

4. Confess Christ publicly

By the end of the first week over 60 responded. By the end of the second week Evan had already started on a whirl-wind tour of the South Wales valleys with his team of 5 girl singers and within a year or so 100,000 converts were said to be added to the Welsh Church  Many backsliders who had gotten off track in their Christian lives returned to the Lord. There were many healings, supernatural answers to prayer and deliverances (people set free from bondages).

What was the secret of this young man's powerful ministry? I’m sure that there may be many answers including his upbringing, his bible reading, his prayer life etc. [But above all was his "brokeness" before Jesus Christ. Thousands of spiritually born again believers -- even those with the 'infilling' of the Holy Spirit who desire to be used in this remarkable, miracle revivalist ministry fail to take the final step to "Bend", e.g., to submit totally to Christ in full brokeness before Him. What about you? Brokeness is also the path to cleansing and deliverance in any true believers life. ~ Rick Lawrence]

Perhaps a concise way of answering the question would be that he was willing to bow to God’s Sovereign purpose for his life; it meant being willing to let God have this Divine way in Evan’s own life.

This involved a struggle between Evan’s way and God’s and as at Gethsemane it meant a conscious choice of “not my will but Thy will be done”.

At Blaenanerch on Thursday 29th September 1904 at 9.30 in the morning, Evan took that step – one seemingly insignificant step for mankind yet one that lead to the greater advancement of the Kingdom of God worldwide.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/southwest/halloffame/public_life/evanroberts.shtml Evan Roberts was 27 yrs. old Yet his addresses ran contrary to the loud, aggressive sermons of more fire-and-brimstone preachers, as well as the more formal highly-structured delivery of Welsh-language sermonizing. He was quiet, often reflective, and invited the audience to participate, to share their experience of the Holy Spirit.

Rick Lawrence does not want a group of followers, he seeks only to be one of the many believers who God will use in the revival process.  Rick shares about revival, how to have the Lord's closeness and voice in your life, how to lead others to Christ,  about  the Lord's revival ministry; How to keep in step with the Holy Spirit; how to received the same infilling a.k.a. Bapt. in the Holy Spirit that has been present in nearly every revival, globally throughout the centuries.

Don't get 'hooked' by the incorrect doctrine of cessation (all miracles, healings and such happenings ended with the book of Acts) and some spirit-filled believers who receive the infilling and then become sidetracked and are prey to deceptive spirits and exotic, vain imaginations. Look to the Spirit of truth, the Holy Spirit, for guidance. John 14:17. The Holy Spirit doesn't need our leadership, he is the one who opens people's hearts; he is the one who brings about spiritual awakening as we pray and look to Jesus for revival.  Rick's presence of ministry is modest, somewhat quiet, and he often invites the audience to participate, to share their experience of the Holy Spirit.  Do not be afraid. Jesus says in Matt 28:20b "surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Personal testimony regarding some of Rick Lawrence's ministry

Rick served in Mexico Missionary aviation as a mountain pilot helping missionaries to open difficult areas where people were resistant to the gospel message of Jesus Christ. He air-dropped hundreds of booklets of the Gospel of John with a small tract abut how to accept Jesus as personal Savior and Lord; each booklet and tract were rolled together and a rubber band was added to secure them. They were put into pillow cases, loaded into Rick’s Cessna 180. As Rick stood the 180 on its wing, flying slow, over a town or targeted area, a missionary would be in the back seat of the plane and would release the hundreds of gospels of John/with Bible tracts -- each bound by a rubber band; they would be released in a steady stream through the open rear window. Missionaries would do a follow-up later. Rick transported missionaries from area to area.  Rick also served with his first aircraft, a Stinson Voyager, in Home Mission efforts in the USA .

The following is a report of one trip Rick made from the Iowa/Minnesota border to
Baudette MN where Rick needed to meet with a particular pastor.  Rain squalls forced Rick to land in fields twice, but he made the most of the circumstances and prayerfully witnessed  to people in the situations and led 16 persons to the Lord, while he was waiting for the weather to clear so he could take off again. The following is an excerpt from a letter Rick wrote to a fellow minister who was interested in Rick’s aviation background.

Re some of my aviation experiences. I had never spoken much about the fact that I was heavily into aviation for lots of years. You might enjoy learning about one of my flights wherein I led 16 people to the Lord, two adults and 14 teens. The Holy Spirit opened their hearts when they heard the Gospel and realized Christ died personally for them, too. I didn't state what the farmer whose hayfield I landed in during a rainstorm said to me that astonished me.

He said, he had looked at planes flying over his farm for years, and somehow felt that one day one of them would land in his hay field with a message to him from God. This farmer now was standing with me just inside his barn door out of the rain. I said to him, " Arnold , I'm that person and I have a message to you from God." I shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with him and he decided to accept Jesus as his personal Savior and Lord of his life, In his barn -- on the spot. Then, he asked me to stay overnight so I could talk to his 3 teenagers and his neighbor lady and her daughter. They all accepted Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord, too. I left the next morning in my aircraft. they drove me out to my plane  and stood waving as I lifted off. I know I'll see them again in heaven some day

Re my offer to witness to my ministry as a Missionary Aviation mountain pilot. I was not a part of MAF; to my knowledge there were no MAFs operating in the areas I served. I started private pilot Instructions when I was 16 yrs. of age. Over the ensuing years I progressed and ended up at age 21 with a Private Pilot license with instrument training. I had checkouts in numerous aircraft, and owned two, A Stinson Voyager and a Cessna 180; both planes were donated by a dedicated fIying farmer. I pray for him and hs family every day. Mountain flying is quite dangerous, I had a dozen harrowing near-death experiences in mountain flying -- bush pilot type, Mostly due to thermals and fog.  In
Mexico I spent 2 yrs. in Missionary evangelism and Missionary aviation.

My testimony in this letter is about the fact that I also operated the Stinson aircraft in evangelistic ministry stateside for  evangelistic ministry before I shipped to Mexico for 2 yrs duty.

I will be telling about a trip I made from southern MN to Baudette near Lake of he Woods. I was forced to land twice by rain squalls. I made the most of my downtime and led a farmer and his 3 children and their neighbor lady and daughter -- all to the Lord by the next morning before I took off again. There were some very supernatural aspects to my landing in the farmers hayfield. He said something to me about expecting me that was astonishing. and he begged me to stay overnight and talk to his children about the Lord; they all received Jesus as their personal Savior next morning as well as their neighbor lady and daughter.

Then, I flew on to Baudette finished my business there and took off again heading to the south region of MN. This trip was made many years ago before the advent of the GPS/ Global Positioning System, wherein you can put in the coordinates of your destination and it will take you within a mile or less of that destination. We did a lot of dead reckoning and omni-range back then. The weather was terrible; I flew instruments until it got so bad I had to set down again. I chose a grassy strip next to a gravel road and set my plane down.  Shortly, two carloads of teens showed up and pulled off the gravel road and pulled up to park about 50 ft behind my plane. It was still raining. They were curious. I told them I was a minister and I figured the skies would clear enough for me to take off in 2 hrs.. I told them if they showed up before I took off at 2 p.m. , I would tell them how to be certain they would go to heaven if they were to die.  They left.

Next a woman with her 10 yr. old daughter came by, pulled off the road and up to the place where the teens had been. She got out, stood by the car and the daughter strode up and asked me how I came to be there with my airplane. I told her the storm had forced me to land; I told her if she came back before 2 p.m. when I was certain the skies would clear and I could take off again, I would tell her how to be certain she would go to heaven if she was to die. She said, "OK" and left.

Just before 2 p.m. it was still raining lightly. The teens, ages 13-17, came back and drove up in their cars. They came and stood in a line parallel and close to the side of my aircraft. I shared the gospel with them and then drew a parallel line with my boot in front of them lengthwise. I told them if they stepped fwd and crossed the line I would pray with them to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Nine of them crossed the line both boys and girls with tears in their eyes prayed for salvation. One teen held back. Maybe he was already spiritually born again, or maybe it wasn't his time. The teens left happy and hugging each other rejoicing over their decision to accept Christ!

I had just eased into the cockpit and started the plane's engine, set the brakes and with the engine idling and prop spinning, I got out to check to see if there was any damage to the tail wheel section. At that moment a car sped down the gravel road turned into the little grassy strip and parked. The door flew open and the 10 year old girl ran screaming toward me as I stood near the tail section of air plane in light rain, "Rick! Rick! Wait for me! She ran breathlessly up and clung to my arm. She exclaimed loudly, "I believe, I believe. I want to accept Jesus as my personal Savior” I taught her more about the Gospel, then I prayed with her-- She, with great sobs, asked the Lord Jesus to come into her heart!  She gave me a hug and ran back to her mother who was standing by the car. She yelled, "Mom! Mom! I asked Jesus to come into my heart!. She hugged her mom and they both cried. I figured her mom was a spiritually born again believer.

I Thanked the Lord for his mercy and grace, then, lifted my aircraft into the skies and headed south.

PS. If you are reading this account, tell me -- if a 10 year old girl can accept Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and the lord of her life and if you are not 100% sure you are on your way to heaven if you die -- What's stopping you from a decision for Him?  In Revelation 3:20 He says, "I am standing at the door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and fellowship with you and you with me ---" What door? The door of your heart!  Pray this prayer that I prayed with the teens and the girl, the same prayer I pray with everyone who wishes to accept Jesus as their personal Savior. Be sure you mean it with your whole heart and when you have prayed, you will know right away, that Jesus, who you have invited into your heart,  has come into your heart and given you eternal life.

"Dear heavenly Father, please forgive me for all of the sins, the wrong things I have thought, said and done in my life. I repent and turn away from these things. I open the door of my heart to you and I ask you to come into my heart as my Savior and Lord of my life. Thank you for this miracle that causes me to be spiritually born again. Help me to obey your commands and do what pleases you. Thank you for coming into my heart an making me a forever member of the family of God. Amen..
