Bible: John 1-- "Before anything else existed, there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is himself God. He created everything there is -- nothing exists that he didn't make. Eternal  life is in him, and this life gives light to all mankind. This light shines through the darkness and the darkness can never, ever extinguish it."

   Who is the Holy Spirit?

R.A. Torrey, a close associate of D.L Moody, was stopped by a friend on his way to a convention, who said: "I see you are to speak on the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Tell the people not to pray for the Holy Spirit." Torrey replied: "I shall certainly not tell them that, for Jesus said": "How much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him." (Luke 11: 13)

Did miracles, healings and the gifts of the Holy Spirit cease with the apostles?

·        Dr. R.A. Torrey, former Pastor of Moody Memorial church in Chicago, IL USA, wrote in 'What the Bible Teaches', "The Baptism with the Holy Spirit is an operation of the Holy Spirit that is distinct from and subsequent and additional to His regenerating work:  An impartation of power, and the one who receives it is fitted for service, not merely for the apostles, not merely for those of the 'Apostolic Age', but for all that are afar off, every believer, in every age of the Church's history.

2 Timothy 3:5 says, " in the last days [of the age we live in] there will be Christians who have a form of Godliness, but  denying its power."  Are you like many of today's  Christians who look at the traditional churches as being the traditional, cold, denominations, but who never stop and wonder if many conservative, evangelical churches are in the same category?

Speaking to the churches at the end of the age we live in, Jesus said in Revelation 3:15, 16,  I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!
So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

In the early church, the Good news about the Lord Jesus Christ and His words were preached and taught and the hand of God [the Holy Spirit] often confirmed their words with the power of signs, miracles and wonders. What is the 'hand of God?' What was the Power of God  [Lord] that enabled Jesus, the Apostles and many disciples throughout church history even today to see miracles of healing when they testify, preach and teach about the risen Chris Jesus? The power of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 4:14 14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.

Luke 5:17   One day as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem , were sitting there.
And the Power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick

Romans 15:19 is one of the verses that tells us
how ministries saw miracles in early church history: " by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. " So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum , I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

Rick says, "the Power of the Spirit to bring healing through today's disciples of Jesus, the Christ, is closely associated with a disciple's closeness to, and being in step with the Holy Spirit."

Much teaching of the truth of the Bible and fruitful ministry occurs in  Bible- believing churches who are keeping the witness and ministry of Christ alive today. Yet, we are living in a end time when the power of Satan and the digression in use of some elements of the media are turning hundreds of millions of people to the dark side.

If there was ever a time we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit with His power  to stand against these dark side forces, it is now. Many of our church programs are excellent, but what about our outreach to bring souls to the Lord? How many people in the secular world are attending church?  How many people are we bringing to Christ and into our churches?

Rick has adopted a new soul-winning plan that is short, simple and made to order for reaching secular people who are being swept along by this fast-paced modern world we live in. Nothing you have ever seen or experienced is like this plan; even children are learning this easy plan and are actually leading adults, as well as other children to the Lord. It is amazing.

Booking Rick for meetings can bring his teaching of this simplest of all plans to your group or church.

Would you rather be a part of this great end time move and see great revival and hundreds or thousands in your area coming to Christ, or be a part of a cold traditional outlook, and be as dry as last years bird nest. Do you want to be numbered amongst those who live in unbelief in the words of Jesus and suppress the supernatural signs of the risen Christ.

Rick says, I am no one's judge, nor am I hyper- critical.  I do observe different practices In our worship services, and many churches don't mean this type of worship service to happen, but pseudo- entertainment styles often replace worship that should be filled with the presence of the Spirit -- His guidance, and power.  This happens in thousands of churches in the USA. and around the world. Isn't it time to allow the Holy Spirit His rightful place in the church?

Think of how much more could be accomplished if people were seeking to be 'filled with the Spirit.' I have attended services in many churches, and notice great difference in the practice of reverence.

Although spiritually born again people are the true  sanctuaries of Christ, we  do meet in a facility that we term the sanctuary. The churches where people enter their meeting sanctuary and maintain reverence and even pray at the altar before the service begins usually see the power of the Holy Spirit in the worship service.

The Bible says in Matthew 18:20 " For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

Jesus is truly there in the sanctuary where we are gathered, but are we in awe of His presence? Are we reverent? Or doesn't he who created the universe and all it contains really matter to us? Was His horrible pain and suffering on the Cross to take away our sins and bring us into an eternal reconciliation with God the father all that important to us.

I ask myself these same questions nearly every day in my life. I'm not a Catholic, however, I will tell you this, one thing Catholics practice in their churches and convents is reverence for the Lord. Many protestant churches are also instituting more reverence in their sanctuary or meeting place.

So much for things I have observed, and think about, says Rick Lawrence.

I have noted the churches who have turned to a more reverent atmosphere in their sanctuary, and are truly seeking to worship in Spirit and in truth outlined in the  Bible are the ones seeing unusual, supernatural happenings, healings and many answers to prayer.

People in the secular world are flocking to these churches wanting to experience the dynamic presence of the Lord.

Heb. 13:8 "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever." The Bible says Jesus is still doing today what he did in the past.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a work of the Holy Spirit subsequent to a believer's salvation experience of accepting Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord of his or her life.

The Holy Spirit is at work in all spiritually born again Christians, whether they have subsequently  been baptized in the Holy Spirit  beyond their salvation experience or not.  God uses all of these believers -- some dynamically.

In the Bible's  New Testament,
in every verse that speaks about people receiving this special work of the Holy
Spirit  the evidence they were Baptized in the Holy Spirit was that they experienced glossolalia
[Greek]. In other words, they spoke in a supernatural, unknown language or tongue which was to be a personal prayer language for each spiritually born again believer.

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a supernatural,  experience given by Jesus Christ to every true believer who desires the experience, which brings the believer into the 'miracle' power side of the Spirit-filled life.

Whereas the basic purpose of Spirit baptism is power for ministry and service, People who seek and receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit speak of a number of effects.

You will note that in John:22 it speaks of Jesus breathing on the 12 disciples in effect baptizing them into the body of Christ. "And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit."

We find in Acts 2:8  the
twelve plus numerous other disciples who are subsequently Baptized in the Holy Spirit in an act of preparation for these disciples to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations of the world.

Since it is the Holy Spirit who is given (not something he gives),

many persons who receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit speak primarily of a strong sense of the reality of God, the Holy Spirit dynamically present, bearing witness to Jesus Christ and glorifying the Father.
There is testimony to an enhanced sense of the Scriptures as the written Word of God, since the same Holy Spirit who inspired them fully is now said to be moving freely in the lives of the believers.
Many spiritually born again people who seek and receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit testify to an abounding joy, a deeper assurance of salvation, a new boldness for witness to Jesus Christ, and an enriched fellowship with other Christians.

On this last point, one of the most noticeable features of the charismatic renewal is the sense of 'koinonia' [Greek word for fellowship] that binds them together not only in a local fellowship but also across ancient denominational barriers. Accordingly, many claim that the charismatic renewal movement is the true fulfillment of the Lord's prayer to the Father "that they may all be one" (John
17:21 ).

Article VI of  the Constitution specifically forbids any "religious test" for public office, and the First Amendment provides a legal guarantee for the free exercise of religion as well as the non-establishment of any one group as America 's established religion. One of the great hallmarks of American life is its emphasis on religious freedom and religious liberty.

Church and state may be separate entities in the United States ,  but faith and politics have become inseparable. "This is basically a very religious nation, people have very intense feelings here about religion," said Carroll Doherty, associate director at the Pew Research Center ."It is unlikely that a nonreligious person would be elected president," he said This distinguishes the United States from most of the developed world.

    Rick says,
    "
Bashing, or mocking other Faiths, even Atheists is wrong and counterproductive.  We may have different points of view but courtesy directs us to be respectful. This may be difficult when faced with militancy, but you cannot force a person to believe differently by trying to make a fool of, insulting and/or mocking him or her.

    "
Understanding and diplomacy are tools used the world over to find paths to peace and harmony.
Talking respectfully to or about people of other faiths is key to building reasonable harmony. Someone of a different belief, or no belief, may insult you, but if you insult them, it is doubtful they will want to hear what you have to say about Jesus Christ. The Word of God, the Bible, is sufficient by the Holy Spirit of God to help, guide and instruct a spiritually born again believer to defend the 'Christian faith.' The Bible says to study to show yourself approved [capable] of defending and teaching the Word of God. " Bashing people and their beliefs will do much more damage to your credibility with other faiths  than all of the good works you might accomplish in attracting people to consider what you preach and teach about your own Faith."

    ----------------------------------------------
Q: Aren't all the world religions basically the same, e.g.,  when you get down to their core beliefs, don't they all lead to heaven? So, why should it matter which religion you follow?
    A:
Although many world religions have some basic moral good, there is a huge difference between them and Bible Christianity: 1) Christianity is based on a person's relationship with God and Jesus Christ. There is no working or striving for the reward of getting into heaven. Salvation [eternal life] is God's gift to the people of planet earth -- to anyone who will receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. John 3:16; John 1:12.

  2) In the Bible, the book of John chapter 14, verse 6, Jesus says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by Me.”  At one point, during Jesus' life on earth, Philip, one of his close disciples, asked him a question. Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father [God] and that will be enough for us."

Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? John 14:8-9  Jesus clearly stated he is God.  Also John 10:30

In most world religions, men or women are the founders and it is expected of their disciples to follow the founder's ideas in order for them to find the way to heaven. And invariably, the following is based on fulfilling the founder's ideas of good works and striving to reach the heavenly goal of eternal life.

3) The above abridged (shortened) explanation deals with what is termed Pluralism.  The word pluralism is used to describe the different aspects or regimes of our world's social cultures.  Another use of pluralism is used to put forth the idea that all religions are equal. Don't you believe it.  Trust the Biblical truth of Christianity. Follow the Bible, God's word and the word of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  ~ Rick Lawrence

The Story of a Chevy who wanted to be a Cadillac
A
certain Chevrolet car dreamed of being a large, luxury Cadillac car. The Chevy was so captivated by the idea, he decided he must do something about it. He must become a Caddy. Here is how he went about becoming a Cadillac. You decide. Did he go about it the right way?  To begin with the Chevy drove to a Cadillac dealership, where they sold new and pre-owned Caddies. He took a close look at the car lot, then hurried to an auto parts store. The Chevy bought Cadillac bumpers, side mirrors and antenna and got them installed there. Next, he hurried back to the Cadillac car lot, pulled into an empty space in the front row and parked between two Cadillacs. The caddies didn't like it one bit -- having a Chevy parked between them trying to dress up to look like a Caddy. The Chevy was so proud to be what he thought he was -- a real Cadillac.

Not long afterward, a little girl and her mother happened to walk by the Cadillac lot. The little girl begin to giggle. "Mother, she said, 'Look at that silly Chevy dressed up like a Cadillac!' He's trying to be a Cadillac. Isn't that funny!" The Chevy heard all of this and was terribly embarrassed. He felt stupid and dejected. He pulled out of the Cadillac lot and drove to a park where he stopped for a while. Just then, another car pulled up and they talked together for a while. The Chevy was tearful as he told about his failure to become a Cadillac. The other car said, "I think I know what you are doing wrong," and he told the Chevy where to find the secret of how to become a real Cadillac. He told the Chevy to drive to the Cadillac factory and they would help him become a Cadillac. The Chevy hurried to the Cadillac factory.

The Chevy reached the Cadillac factory and talked there with the factory superintendent. Oh, the super told him. "I see you are unregenerate." Huh? said the Chevy? "I mean you can't be a Cadillac in the form you are in. 'You need to be completely changed. You need to be changed into a new form. What we'll do is melt you down, totally, then pour the molten metal into ingots and forms which we'll send to our rolling mill and stamping machines and you will be made into new parts -- Cadillac parts -- and then we'll assemble all of these new parts on the assembly line and you'll end up regenerated from a Chevy to a new Cadillac. There is no other way for you to become a Cadillac,'" he told the Chevy. And so the Chevy who was unregenerate became regenerate the factory way. When he drove off the assembly line he was a sparkling new Cadillac!

What's this got to do with me? And what did the factory super mean by being unregenerate? Plenty! He was telling the Chevy he needed to be recreated or regenerated.  How does this illustration apply to people? Here's how Webster's dictionary defines regenerate.  Webster's Collegiate Dictionary -- regenerate: to become formed or created again: spiritually reborn or converted: an individual who is spiritually reborn. Unregenerate: simply means the opposite that you have never been spiritually reborn. Why is it important to understand these two terms? Because Jesus said unless a person is born again [spiritually] he or she will not see the Kingdom of God (John 3:3-5). In other words, You must be spiritually reborn, or you will not go to heaven when you die, regardless of your good works. Jesus wasn't talking about changing your denomination, church affiliation, or becoming a preacher, missionary or anything like that. He was talking about your personal relationship with God and Himself. The Bible says whether or not you go to heaven when you die is strictly up to you. Only you make the decision: Not your parents, not your wife, not a friend. The decision is up to you, only; it is between you and God.

Are you troubled with concerns and problems? I believe for everyone on planet earth who is struggling with problems, for instance: health, relationship, financial, or spiritual concerns, the answer begins at a starting point.  I believe the Bible has the miracle answer. The greatest answer to the concerns and problems we face in life is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This miracle step: 1) settles the question of “where will we spend eternity when we die  2) When we make Jesus Christ our personal Savior and the Lord of our life, He will help us with the many concerns and problems we face.

This does not  mean any of us will be unaffected by these concerns and problems, but it brings the truths of the Bible and the help of Jesus, the Son of Jehovah God who will show us the way to overcome life’s problems. Jesus will often directly intervene to set us free from these bondages. It is a win -- win decision you can make, right now. The starting point means you will be changed -- spiritually born again. You will have a new start. The Bible, God's Word, guarantees it: 2 Corinthians 5:17. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"

Are You 100% Certain Where You Will Spend  Eternity?  You will die some day; it may be much sooner than you think. At that moment, you will either spend eternity with God and Jesus, or be cast into Hell and be forever separated from God and the Lord Jesus Christ. To know for certain you will be forever with Jesus, read below -- How to get to heaven when you die.

God loves us with all of our faults and mistakes. After all, He sent his Son, Jesus, to die for sinners not the righteous.

Hell -- Jesus spoke of a place of punishment. Language about hell seeks to describe for humans the most awful punishment human language can describe to warn unbelievers before it is too late. Earthly experience would lead us to believe that the nature of punishment will fit the nature of the sin. Certainly, no one wants to suffer the punishment of hell, and through God's grace the way for all is open to avoid hell and know the blessings of eternal life through Christ

How to Get to Heaven When You Die. I have some questions for you, today:  If you died this minute Do you know if you would go to heaven?"  Many of you will tell me you don’t know or you don’t think so. I appreciate your honesty.  "Let me ask you this: Would you like to know? Don't you think it would be great if you could know that if you died you would go to Heaven?" I believe there are many of you out there who have listened to me enough that you have come to the point where you really would like to know if you were to die today would you go to heaven.

This is my last question: let me ask you this: “If I could take the Bible and explain to you how you could know, right now, beyond any shadow of a doubt, and you could see it and understand it, would you believe it? Would you do what the Bible says?”   I believe many of you are saying, “yes, I will.”

All right, In the Bible, the Book of Romans Chapter 3, verse 10 it says, As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one.  Next, Romans Chapter 3, verse 23 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” The Bible says we all have sinned. Now, notice what the Bible says in Romans, Chapter 5, verse 12, it says, “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man [Adam], and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned. Then, Romans, Chapter 6, verse 23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  So, the Bible tells us that everyone is a sinner, and then it tells us the price of sin.

Now, here is the good news! Jesus Christ has paid the price for our sin. In Romans, Chapter 5, verse 8 it says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Let’s review what we have just learned.

There are only four things you must know to get to heaven. First, you must know that you are a sinner. For example, Romans 3:10 says, 'As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.' Let me illustrate. If there is none righteous, that means I'm not righteous, doesn't it? Also, it says, 'For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.' Now, if all have sinned, that means I've sinned -- right?  And that means you have sinned."

"You do realize that you are a sinner? For example, the Bible mentions some sins such as evil thinking, bad literature, If you have ever told a lie, or taken something that doesn’t belong to you, or cheated only to name a few sins – you can see what the Bible is saying. “everyone is a sinner.

Second, we see the price of sin.  Romans 5:12 says, "Wherefore, as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death by sin..." What kind of death? All death, both spiritual and physical death, the sum total of death. "...and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." And Romans 6:23 , "For the wages of sin is death..." So, there is a price on sin. What is that price? Death! What kind of death? That includes the second death of Revelation 20:14, and that second death is the Lake of Fire . So, ultimately a person who is a sinner must pay for it by going to Hell. That is the basic price on sin.

Third, Jesus paid the price. Listen, God looked down from Heaven and saw that you were a sinner. He saw that you were in sin. He saw that you and I deserved to go to Hell. He wanted to save us and made a plan to do it. He came to the world Himself. His name was Jesus. He was God in a human body. For thirty-three years He lived here in this world. He did not commit one single sin.

This is important! Suppose that Jesus Christ had sinned one time only. The price of sin being death or Hell, where would Jesus have had to go when He died?   The answer is Hell, but He did not sin. He did not commit one sin, but He went to the cross, and on the cross He suffered spiritual death. He suffered the same thing that a lost person will have to suffer in Hell.  Actually He was paying our price for our sins. He was becoming our substitute.

Fourth, "If we will receive that price as our hope for Heaven and receive Him as our Savior from sin, He will make us His children and take us to Heaven when we die."   Let me review it with you now.  Let me ask you these questions: Do you realize that you are a sinner?   Do you realize that a person who dies in his or her sins goes eternally to Hell?   Do you realize that Jesus Christ has suffered your Hell already for you?  OK  If we bow our heads together and have prayer and you sincerely invite Christ into your heart as your Savior, the Lord of your life, do you believe God will make you His child.?  I know that many of you listening understand now and you would like to receive Christ as the personal Savior and lord of your life.

In the Bible, the Book of Revelation, 3:20 Jesus says, "Look! I have been standing at the door, and I am constantly knocking. If anyone hears me calling him and opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with him and he with me. Christ is the answer! Jesus is standing at the door of your heart. Will you open the door and invite him in?  Let me help you pray.  Pray this prayer, and speak the words as you pray: Lord Jesus, I know I’m a sinner and my life isn’t right in your sight. I ask you to forgive my sins. I repent of my sins and with your help, I will change my ways. Thank you for dying on the cross for me. I am opening the door of my heart to you and I ask you, Jesus, to come into my heart and become my personal Savior and Lord of my life. Thank you for this new miracle beginning. Help me to live for you and do what pleases you. Amen.   ~ J. Hiles/ annotes. R Lawrence

If you said yes to Jesus and invited him into your heart to become your personal Savior and the Lord of your life, the Bible says he will  keep his promise and he has come into your heart and life. You will have been spiritually born again or born anew. Your sins are forgiven and Jesus Christ has given you a new start.  Millions of people are nominal (in name only) Christians, and have all the trappings, viewpoints and religious form of Christianity, but their Bible knowledge is "head" knowledge. Many of these people have not known the Bible way to salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ, and follow the religious traditions of men, however, many would certainly take the proper step to be spiritually born again if they knew what the Bible teaches about it.

T
he difference between head knowledge and heart knowledge lies in the fact that when you are truly, spiritually born again, you receive a supernatural, miracle experience an impartation from God. You are regenerated, indwelled by the Holy Spirit and your understanding will open up. The Holy Spirit will bear witness with your spirit that you are a new creature (person); you will know in your spirit that you are changed and have a new spiritual beginning in your life. You can read about it in John chapter 3.  Note:  2 Cor.5:17 which says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"

You will die some day maybe sooner than you expect. Are you 100% sure that you will go to heaven when you die? I recommend getting right with God by making a decision to accept Jesus Christ into your heart as your personal Savior and the Lord of your life. The Bible tells us it will mean a huge difference in our
protection, our success, and will determine where we spend eternity: whether forever with Jesus, or separated from him forever, and assigned to Hell.

An illogical person says there is no God.  [He or she says] all the wonders around us are accidental.  No almighty hand made a thousand billion stars.  They made themselves. No power keeps them on their steady course.  The earth spins itself to keep the oceans from falling off toward the sun.  Infants teach themselves to cry when they are hungry or hurt.  A small flower invented itself so that we could extract digitalis for sick hearts.

The earth gave itself day and night, tilted itself so that we get seasons.  Without  the magnetic poles man would be unable to navigate the trackless oceans of water and air, but they just grew there. How about the sugar thermostat in the pancreas?  It maintains a level of sugar in the blood sufficient for energy.  Without it, all of us would fall into a coma and die.  Why does snow sit on mountain-tops waiting for the warm spring sun to melt it at just the right time for the young crops in farms below to drink?  A very lovely accident?

The human heart will beat for 70 or 80 years without faltering. How does it get sufficient rest between beats?  A kidney will filter poison from the blood, and leave good things alone.  How does it know one from the other?   Who gave the human tongue flexibility to form words, and a brain to understand them, but denied it to all animals?  Who showed a womb how to take the love of two persons and keep splitting a tiny ovum until, in time, a baby would have the proper number of fingers, eyes and ears and hair in the right places, and come into the world when it is strong enough to sustain life?  [There is no God?
